Weaver

Statement
Helen weaves unearthed stories of landscape, folklore and history. Working in deadstock and paper yarns, and utilising a rust dyeing process, these textural, elemental expressions embrace brokenness and irregularity to capture the traces of lost narratives. They are an ode to the ancient, winding lineage of weavers and their song of haptic knowledge passed down from hand, to hand, to hand.
Materials and Techniques
| Deadstock and paper yarns, dyed using rust dyeing techniques. |

Awards
| “A successful placement post-graduation has led to me now working as a full-time handweaver in a company dedicated to traceability and preserving weaving traditions. This has enabled me to develop and refine my craft skills, which I look forward to applying to my own weaving practice!“ |
